Developmental screening

I had my developmental screening with the Right Start program today. The nice nurse came to my house and did lots of tests with me. I did very well, scoring at about 2 months old on the scale. Not too shabby considering I'm only 5 weeks!

My First Christmas

My first Christmas came the day after I was one month old. We had the holiday at our place, with Gramma Sindy, Grandpa Jerry, Uncle Jonathan, Aunt Cindy, Uncle Justin, Mom, Dad, Cameron, Maia, and Ella. Busy day, full house!

It was pretty busy, and at times I wasn't so sure about the noise (not to mention being passed around and around and around), but all in all I had a good day. I got a carrier so I can go out with my Mom or Dad and be all snuggled up, and a super cute doll from New Zealand, called a Mary Lou doll.

One Month Old

I'm one month old today!

To celebrate, we had a photo shoot at my house today. Years from now, no one is going to be able to believe how teeny-tiny I am!

It started out a bit rough, with me pretty fussy and upset about what was happening. But I warmed up to the idea after a while, and Mom and Dad ended up getting some pretty cute photos, if I do say so myself.

I went to the doctor today to get my weight checked and not only had I regained my birth weight, but I gained an extra four ounces - 7 pounds, 8 ounces. Everyone is very happy that I'm healthy and growing well.

Two week doctor's appointment

I had my two week doctor's appointment with Dr. Nielsen today. Everything was great except my weight - I have to come back in a week to be weighed again because I haven't quite gained as much as the doctor would have liked. By two weeks they like to see babies back to their birth weights (mine was 7 pounds, 4 ounces), but I am only at 6 pounds, 13 1/2 ounces. So I'm going to have to get eating!

Sleeping through the night

For the second night in a row, I slept six hours straight last night! My Mom and Dad are very thankful for the sleep, but everyone is very shocked at what a good baby I have turned out to be. I don’t know what the big deal is – I just like to get my beauty rest!

Welcome Home Baby

I had my Welcome Home Baby visit today. A nurse from the local health department came to visit me and my parents, and checked in on how things are going. I was having a nice sleep when she arrived, but once Mom was finished answering the nurse’s questions, they woke me up so I could visit, too. She checked me all out and confirmed what my parents already know – I’m absolutely perfect. I weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces, which means I am right on track for the goal of being back to my birth weight by my two week check-up.

The nurse also showed my Mom and Dad some of the tricks from “Happiest Baby on the Block,” a class that is offered locally based on a popular book. I was putty in her hands as she swaddled me in a special way, then soothed me right to sleep. It was heavenly! Now my parents have some great tools for helping keep me content when I’m feeling less than happy.
