One day a week, Bria goes to play with her friends Karli, Sam and Piper. This week they went to gymnastics, which looks like it was super fun! I posted one photo the other day, but Karli sent me a few more pictures, and they were too adorable not to share. Thanks Karli!

Bria was napping in the cradle next to the piano and I had gone downstairs for something when I heard the piano being played. I came upstairs, and there was my baby girl, standing up in the cradle so she could play.

Look, I did art!

Bria, Piper and Karli went to an art class at the James Memorial, and Bria brought home some art she made -- or at least art she and Piper watched Karli make, because they weren't especially interested.

So much to say

At 12 months, Bria is doing lots of talking. It seems like her favorite words change week-to-week (and sometimes she'll say a word today and then you can't ever get her to say it again!) - growing and changing as fast as everything else in her life.

Right now her favorite words seem to be "Yes" "Wow/Whoah" "What"

She will repeat most things if you can catch her interest long enough to figure the word out. She says all of her friends names occasionally, and spends a lot of time talking about "Dadda."

Instead of saying mamamama like she used to, now it is distinctly "Mom."

She is also becoming proficient in the sign language that suits her -- right now she signs milk when she wants to nurse, and will often say "milk" as well. She waves good-bye, and sometimes signs please and thank you, as well as shaking her head for yes and no. (If you tell her not to get into something, she always shakes her head no to remind herself!)

Bria's favorite thing continues to be music and dancing. Anything that comes on TV with music in it will catch her attention (she LOVES Glee), and she had a fabulous time at her foster sister's dance recital this weekend.

Curly Hairdo Ideas - One of Bria's very best friends is the "model" for this site -- she and her mommy do such adorable work, and it's a really great site for people wondering what to do with their babes' hair!

Stashable - Bria's Auntie Liz has a beautiful website where she sells her hand-painted yarn, and some other fun goodies. (Note that prices on the website itself are in New Zealand dollars.)

Little Diva Tutus - Bria is totally in love with her leg warmers from Little Diva Tutus, she wants to wear them all the time. This morning we were looking at the pretty pictures of the tutus on the site, and we entered a contest to win free tutus for a year. Fun!

Bijou Originals - A friend of Mommy's who is just starting out selling her gorgeous crafts on etsy. She does beautiful work, and we are so proud of her! (Check out her garden journals - wow!)

Thanksgiving

One year ago today, Bria and Mommy and Daddy were celebrating their first Thanksgiving together -- in the hospital. This one was a little different! The weather was terrible, so the guest list was a little shorter than expected, but it was still a big (busy) day, with a house full of family to hang out with. Bria loved the turkey and pumpkin pie, and got tons and tons of snuggles. She also slept until 11:30 and had to be woken up to greet company!

Thanksgiving / Christmas

My big brother and sisters are going to be in Arizona for Christmas this year, so we had one big combined holiday on Thanksgiving. Gramma and Grandpa, Uncle Justin, Uncle Jonathan, and Aunt Cindy joined us for the holiday. We had a big turkey dinner, opened presents, and played lots and lots of Wii games! I got to get in on the Wii Band Hero fun because I got a guitar for Christmas from Gramma and Grandpa!

They say it's your birthday!!!!

Wow, one year old!!!! On one hand, it seems like she couldn't possibly be a year old already, but on the other hand -- wow, those pictures of her from one year ago seem like an eternity ago! She has grown and changed so much in this year (as babies will), and we are so excited to celebrate her first birthday.

Bria will be celebrating with her friends and family with a party on Saturday. Tonight she celebrated at her friend Denli's birthday party -- so she's going to be an expert by the time her party comes around! Denli was born the day before Bria, so they'll always get to party together!

One year photos

Bria spent the morning with Megan from Megan Wold Photography today, having her one year photos taken. (We also did family photos, which were a lot of fun!) We love Megan's work, and are so excited to share the photos with everyone!

Awww! Bria's favorite thing to do today is take out her pacifier and give big, sloppy kisses. It puts a big smile on her face AND Mom's!

Boo, Bria is getting a nasty cough. Not a great day to be a cute baby girl!

Check it out! My Gran makes the best baby socks ever (they were the only thing that would stay on my feet for a long long time!), and everyone can get some for themselves!

Theater day

Today was a big day! I got to see my big brother and sisters perform in the Missoula Children's Theater production of the Princess and the Pea.

Then in the evening, I hung out with my Mom and Dad and watched Little Shop of Horrors. I loved it! Music is my favorite thing ever!

Bria was cleaning up the toys this afternoon, picking them up and putting them into her toy box. One of the daycare kids took one out, and she yelled at him! She was not impressed!

Play date

Bria had her first play date with her friends Karli and Piper today. She had so much fun! She came home saying "Piper, Piper, Piper."

Jhordyne got her hands on my hair! She wanted to try out something she saw on Curly Hairdo Ideas, but Bria's hair was a bit short. So she got these pigtails.

Wee tiny baby

Bria was at the health unit to get weighed and measured Tuesday, and she's being encouraged to eat, eat, eat! She weighed in at 15 pounds, 4 ounces (6.9 kilos), and measured 26" (66.04 centimetres). Her height to weight ratio has dropped a bit over time and is now at about 26th percentile, which means they would like to see her chunk up just a bit! They also tested her blood for anemia, and her iron levels were 11.5 (10.9 would be a concern at her age).

She doesn't care to drink from a sippy cup or bottle (she chews on them rather than sucking), but is still nursing, and we are going to start encouraging her to have some whole milk with meals to see if that helps a bit. She HAS been growing a bit lately (we've noticed she is outgrowing clothes!), so hopefully it's just that they caught her mid-growth spurt!

Baby's First Halloween

Bria had a great time on her first Halloween. She dressed up like an elephant and went trick-or-treating with Jhordyne, then went to visit Gramma and Grandpa, and wrapped up her night with a visit to the community Halloween carnival.

Trick-or-treating was adorable because the first two treats she got (a bright yellow box of milk duds from the fire station and a rice krispie treat from the first house) she held onto tightly for the rest of the night. Fun, fun!

Eleven months old

Bria is 11 months old today, and not having a happy time with tooth number four! They are all four on the bottom, which you would think would make eating hard, but she doesn't seem to have any problem in that department. In fact, she is a super star eater! She loves just about everything you put in front of her, as long as she feels like the big people are eating it, too!
