First ear infection
Bria has been a fussy budget for a couple of days, obviously not feeling well at all.
She went to the doctor today because she still wasn't feeling great, and it seems she has her first ear infection. Boo, no fun!
She was pretty nervous about the doctor as soon as he came in the room, which was a bummer, because Dr. Nielsen is always super sweet to her. He gave her a good check over and decided her right ear was infected, so he wrote her a prescription for amoxycillin.

What Bria's up to
Bria is only a few days away from being six months old, and every day is something new and interesting for her!
On solid food, she is off like a rocket, seemingly loving everything we get her. We are introducing new foods one at a time, with a four day wait period to check for any allergies or other reactions. So far, so good! She has tried rice cereal, oatmeal, carrots, and peas. Next she gets some protein!
She is so busy these days, it seems like she hardly ever sits still. If she is sitting or laying down, her legs and arms are just going and going. She loves to play with toys, and is moving around the room more and more - especially if there is something she wants to get to, like a juice cup, a kid or a toy.
Bria doesn't seem to be a fan of the heat, as we have discovered the past few days. As the temperatures have risen, she has slept less, and not been a happy girl about it. We have been doing things like putting her swing in the breeze from the open front door, putting a fan in her room, and bringing her into bed with us in the basement to try to help.
She is such a sweetheart, and just lights up everyone's life. We are all so happy - and so smitten!

Growing up!
Bria had an appointment this morning, and she weighed in at 12 pounds, 15.4 ounces (so big!), 23 1/2 inches long. Her head measurement was 16 5/8 inches.
For our Kiwi family...that is 5.88 kilos, 59.69 centimetres, and head circumference of 42.23 centimetres.
Bigger and bigger every day! She continues to be very petite, but is growing in a perfect arc across the scale, at a very consistent rate. Couldn't ask for better.

Solid foods girl
We have decided to start introducing Bria to solid foods this week. She is eating oatmeal cereal as her first real step into that world! She liked it very much the first time, but seems bored with the idea of doing it twice a day, and unsure why we keep bugging her with this whole spoon thing. She'd rather just hang out in her high chair and play!

Little Bria's world
Baby girl is such a busy chick these days! She just goes and goes, and loves to play with anything she can get her hands on. She rolls or scoots around to get to things she wants, but what she really loves is people. She is a social butterfly, constantly interested in what everyone else is up to. She adores all of the little friends she has made at mom's daycare, no matter who they are, and likes all the grownups in her world, too.
Bria is a genuinely happy baby - rarely is there anything that will upset her!
She is exclusively breastfed, and goes through lots of goofy phases in her eating. Lately she snacks every couple of hours, and has about two big meals a day. She has decided that sleeping through the night is no fun, so for the last couple of months her sleeping habits have not been very predictable. One night she will be awake every two hours, and the next night she will wake up once.
Mom has had to change a TV habit because of baby - usually she would leave the TV on during the day as sort of background noise, but Bria LOVES to watch TV! She watches the news, the kids shows, sports - pretty much everything. And if you leave the TV on all day, she'll try to watch it all day! Her favorite way to watch is sort of backwards, stretching her neck up to look at the television set behind her. She seems fascinated with it.
She is still a tiny petite thing, but has finally grown out of the newborn clothes! She is starting to wear mostly size 3-6 months now, though she still has a few items that she wears in 0-3 months. While she may not seem to be getting much bigger, she is growing up every day, and looking more and more grown up!
