Sleeping through the night

For the second night in a row, I slept six hours straight last night! My Mom and Dad are very thankful for the sleep, but everyone is very shocked at what a good baby I have turned out to be. I don’t know what the big deal is – I just like to get my beauty rest!

Daddy made this video of me tonight - I'm a busy girl!

Welcome Home Baby

I had my Welcome Home Baby visit today. A nurse from the local health department came to visit me and my parents, and checked in on how things are going. I was having a nice sleep when she arrived, but once Mom was finished answering the nurse’s questions, they woke me up so I could visit, too. She checked me all out and confirmed what my parents already know – I’m absolutely perfect. I weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces, which means I am right on track for the goal of being back to my birth weight by my two week check-up.

The nurse also showed my Mom and Dad some of the tricks from “Happiest Baby on the Block,” a class that is offered locally based on a popular book. I was putty in her hands as she swaddled me in a special way, then soothed me right to sleep. It was heavenly! Now my parents have some great tools for helping keep me content when I’m feeling less than happy.

My lamby

I love snuggling with my New Zealand lamby, a special gift from Gran and Grandad.

Baby quilt

I received a beautiful gift in the mail today – a very soft quilt made with love by my Gran in New Zealand. I can’t wait to get to meet her!

Hospital website

I'm online (again). The hospital uploaded my photo today, so you can see me along with all the other newborns born at Mercy by going here:

and clicking on "Nursery Newborns" in the top right corner of the screen.
There is a photo of me, along with info on me and my doctor. The photo here isn't the one they used, but it's one from the CD the hospital sent Mom and Dad. Cute, eh?

My first sickies

Yesterday my left eye started getting weepy and yucky, so this morning I had to go to the doctor for the first time! I saw Dr. Small at Craven Hagan Clinic, and I have my first bug - a case of conjunctivitis. Now I have to use a prescription ointment for a week. Not a good way to celebrate my one week birthday!

I'm still in a pretty good mood, despite the bug. I had a busy day today, running errands with Mom and Dad and meeting new people. I think I got to meet just about every possible person at the Williams County Courthouse and Law Enforcement Center (where Dad works), and got to go shopping, too. It's amazing how many people I don't know felt the need to touch me - and in the middle of a flu season! Ick!

I finished my day with a visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house, but I spent most of it sleeping, despite Grandma's best efforts to wake me up so I would play.
