Bria had a great time on her first Halloween. She dressed up like an elephant and went trick-or-treating with Jhordyne, then went to visit Gramma and Grandpa, and wrapped up her night with a visit to the community Halloween carnival.
Trick-or-treating was adorable because the first two treats she got (a bright yellow box of milk duds from the fire station and a rice krispie treat from the first house) she held onto tightly for the rest of the night. Fun, fun!

Eleven months old
Bria is 11 months old today, and not having a happy time with tooth number four! They are all four on the bottom, which you would think would make eating hard, but she doesn't seem to have any problem in that department. In fact, she is a super star eater! She loves just about everything you put in front of her, as long as she feels like the big people are eating it, too!

WALKING!!!!
Bria has been making attempts at walking for a while now, and tonight she decided it was time to take those first steps! 10 months old, and already so big and independent! We of course took lots of pictures and video. She even made a bloopers reel, she was having so much fun. Every time she fell we all laughed, so she started throwing herself on the floor on purpose to get a laugh out of us. The little ham!

10 months old
Our baby girl is 10 months old!
At 10 months, Bria is so much fun. She's a copy cat -- she loves to copy hand motions like clapping, waving, "giving five" and more. She has started doing some sign language, too, including the sign for milk.
Bria weighed 15 pounds, 1 ounce (6.8 kilos) at her doctor's appointment on Tuesday, which puts her in the 5th percentile for her age. Her doctor was very happy with that, saying she has stayed right in a healthy curve of growth.
She is still a good nurser, and loves food -- as long as she can feed herself! None of this baby cereal or mashed baby foods, thank you very much. Some of her favorites are scrambled eggs, french fries, and chicken. She also eats fruits and vegetables really well.
Bria is crawling around being busy, busy, busy all the time, and has been considering walking for a while. She stands up for a few seconds on her own, and spends a lot of her time standing up with her back leaning against something, rather than holding on.
She sleeps through the night in her crib, which is a big yay, and new this month. It was a pretty simple transition, and she was probably wondering why Mommy and Daddy didn't do it sooner!
Bria is starting to open up to outside people a bit more now -- Gramma has been glad that baby is finally a bit happier about letting her hold her. Her favorite people to go to are still her family members, though. She isn't a big fan of strangers unless they keep their distance!
She is a very happy baby. She loves music -- dances to the most random things -- and really enjoys spending time with other kids. She picks them out everywhere! ("Ooh Mom, gotta stop, there's a KID!" as we walk by.)
Bria is also becoming quite the little communicator. She likes to try to repeat words you say, and has a few that she says often...Mama, Dada, Daddy, Hiiiiii!, Bye-bye, Uh-oh, Wow!, Whoah, Ball....

Sick baby girl
Bria was feeling pretty crummy over the weekend, and on Saturday, we ended up taking her to the ER. Turns out she had good reason to feel yuck -- two ear infections and bronchitis, ick! After four hours in the emergency room, which included blood work, a chest x-ray, a bag to try to catch urine and check for dehydration, and two exams, Bria got a shot of an antibiotic and got to go home and snuggle Mommy and Daddy to feel better.
By Monday, she seemed like she was feeling better by some, but some little red bumps which the ER doctor had chalked up to her fever were still around and possibly getting worse, so we decided it was time to go back to the doctor. Tuesday morning, Bria started her day by finding out she had Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. Apparently quite common among small children, it is a virus that just has to be waited out, as there is no treatment. :-(
Because the illness is highly contagious, Bria did end up with an empty house to recover in -- we had to close the daycare for the rest of the week to keep it from spreading. Mommy will be busy sanitizing toys and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning!
