Allergy experiment: Day One

Bria has been suffering with what seems like cold symptoms for three months now. At the beginning she was just baby stuffy, which seemed perfectly normal (especially since she had a c-section). After a while, she had blood work done to make sure it was nothing more serious, and the doctor thought she just had a cold that was hanging on.

As time goes on, though, it becomes clear the runny eyes, stuffy nose and cough may not be a cold, after all. We're thinking it may be allergies. Much to our dismay, that means we look to the cat and dog, who are a part of the family!

It seems blood allergy tests on babies her age can be misleading and/or inaccurate, so the best option is to remove the pets from the home, do a thorough cleaning, and then give her about a week to see if her symptoms improve.

Soooo, yesterday the dog went to stay with Grandma, and Mom cleaned the bedroom where Bria sleeps from top to bottom. The carpets and beds were vacuumed, every nook and cranny was cleaned, all of the linens went through the wash. With a clean room and the cat shut upstairs so she couldn't sleep with us, Bria woke up this morning without runny eyes. A good first sign for her!

This afternoon, the cat went to stay with friends, and the experiment continues. Now the living room, where Bria spends most of her day, has been cleaned, too, and Mom is starting in on the rest of the house.
